Free Tour Gaudí & Sagrada Familia

The modernist genius explained before you go in. You'll leave understanding every symbol.

2.5 hours Spanish · English Pl. de Catalunya, 2, Eixample · 08002 Barcelona

The stretch from La Pedrera to the Sagrada Familia is done by metro: bring your ticket before the tour starts.

Discover Barcelona's most surprising side through the universe of Antoni Gaudí. We walk the modernist gems of the Eixample and tell you the stories hidden in every façade.

You'll learn to read the symbolic details and hidden meanings of modernism: from the dragon camouflaged on Casa Batlló to the La Pedrera detail that inspired Star Wars.

We finish in front of the Sagrada Familia, understanding why it's the most unique temple in the world. Leaving knowing how to look at it completely changes the visit.

Frequently asked questions

Do we go inside the Sagrada Familia?

The tour is outdoors: we explain every symbol of the façade before you decide to go in on your own. That way you get far more out of the visit.

Do I need a metro ticket?

Yes. The stretch from La Pedrera to the Sagrada Familia is done by metro, so bring your ticket with you before we start.

Is it suitable for kids?

Absolutely. It's a family tour: little ones love the stories of Casa Batlló's dragon and Gaudí's fairy-tale details.

Which languages is it in?

We offer it in Spanish and English every day, and on request in other languages with our private guides.

Do you use radio guides?

Yes. We use a radio guide on every tour (€1.5 per person) so you can follow each explanation without missing a single detail, even in larger groups.

What if we come as a big group?

For groups of 6 or more, you must pay a minimum of €15 per person to the guide before the activity starts — or, better still, book a private tour tailored to you. On free tours we can't accept groups of more than 6 people coming together who haven't paid in advance, even if they made separate bookings.

A really big shout out to Pera who not only is an architect and a historian himself, but a proper actor. He took us through an incredibly informative tour and delivered some of the most dramatic stories with proper theater experience. If I can book other tours, I'll be sure to request him.

Truly enjoyed our time with Luke yesterday! We had a fantastic Free Walking Tour with him in Barcelona. He guided us through Passeig de Gràcia, showed us some of Gaudí’s most famous houses, and shared fascinating insights about the history and architecture behind each site. The tour also included the incredible Sagrada Família, and Luke's knowledge helped us appreciate its significance on a much deeper level. He was engaging, friendly, and extremely well-informed throughout the tour. He brought the history of Barcelona to life with interesting stories and details that we would have otherwise missed. Would definitely recommend Luke to anyone visiting Barcelona who wants an informative and enjoyable introduction to the city's landmarks and culture. Gracias!

We were in for two days visiting my brother who is currently studying here. We had a few hours spare so my brother found these walking tours. We didn't really know what to expect but it was brilliant. Our tour guide was Andreas for the Gaudi tour. He was genuinely nice, engaging and knowledgeable. We had a really good time and learnt so much. The tour did not feel as long as it did, the time flew by. 10/10.would recommend the tour with Andreas.

Amazing Gaudi and modernism walking tour with guide Luke. Having lived in barcelona for 10 years his knowledge of the city was clear! He was super passionate and enthusiastic. Second time in barcelona and his tour is easily the best one I've done. Highly recommend! Thanks Luke!

Alessio was a fantastic tour guide. Communication prior to the tour was excellent. Meeting point easy to find. Audio equipment was of good quality. We were a family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) and we were all engaged for the full 3 hour walk. Just bring snacks and drinks as no opportunity to stop for refreshments. We were blessed with perfect weather and thoroughly enjoyed Alessio's insight and take on Gaudi's most famous offerings in Barcelona. We would definitely recommend Alessio and Barkeno Tours.
