We start at Plaça Catalunya and head into the old town to discover the essence of Barcelona: iconic spots and hidden corners of the Gothic Quarter, the Roman wall and El Born.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay for the free tour?
You book for free and at the end you decide what to contribute based on how much you enjoyed it. The average tip is €15–20 per person, but it's entirely voluntary.
How do I recognise you at the meeting point?
Look for your Barkeno guide in front of the Urban Outfitters store.
Do you use radio guides?
Yes. We use a radio guide on every tour (€1.5 per person) so you can follow each explanation without missing a single detail, even in larger groups.
What if we come as a big group?
For groups of 6 or more, you must pay a minimum of €15 per person to the guide before the activity starts — or, better still, book a private tour tailored to you. On free tours we can't accept groups of more than 6 people coming together who haven't paid in advance, even if they made separate bookings.

We were a family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) and we were all engaged for the full 3 hour walk. Just bring snacks and drinks as no opportunity to stop for refreshments. We were blessed with perfect weather and thoroughly enjoyed Alessio's insight and take on Gaudi's most famous offerings in Barcelona. We would definitely recommend Alessio and Barkeno Tours.”
